This site is dedicated to those who have an interest in ongoing study and learning. Deerglade is a small covenstead located near Tweed, Ontario, Canada. It was brought into being from many years of study by Lady Christena a long time practicing solitary witch.
The Deerglade Tradition is based on the family tradition of Border Country Witchcraft and Wicca. We do not have a hierarchy system of High Priestess and High Priest. All initiates are considered equal and are styled Priestess/Lady or Priest/Lord. The term Crone is used as a term of respect for older female members, as age = experience = wisdom. The term Wizard is occasionally used as respect for the older male. These are terms of respect only and does not in any way infer a special status on the individual. We can all learn from one another, and age or years practicing the Craft does not make any one better than another. We have kept our Coven small simply because it is easier and more practical to do so at the moment. On The Sabbats page you will find links to each of the Sabbats. Included with each Sabbat are some favourite Deerglade recipes. If you want to jump directly to a specific recipe they are listed with links at the bottom of this page.
To learn more about the Deerglade Tradition go to Coven Sense. Here you will see our requirements, for anyone studying under the Deerglade system, to become initiated. If you are presently working as a solitary, you will find this part of the site very useful. Please understand, at present we are unable to accept new students.
If you love books, you've come to the right place. In About Books, we have listed "Books For The Knowledgeable Pagan," as well as our old stand-bys and favourites. You will find other book lists on the site, including those which are required reading for those studying to become initiated in the Deerglade Tradition.
Because we travel throughout Ontario, we have listed the Book Shops where we buy books for Deerglade. We have found these shops to be consistently friendly and helpful as well as having a good stock to choose from.
Healing The Self is an essay which is devoted to learning to direct your life through self-healing. The Craft has gone far beyond the mixing of potions and the stirring of the cauldron, as portrayed in popular culture.
Many witches are also accredited Reiki Masters, Holistic Health Practitioners, Aroma Therapists and Herbalists. This does not in any way intend to infer that one has to follow a Pagan Path to become a healer. Lady Christena received her Usui Reiki Master attunements in 2003 and shares her insights on Reiki and self-healing on this page.
Lady Christena has devoted many years to the study of the Tarot cards and shares with us her insights, the history, and how to read the cards in, A Journey with the Tarot. Both the beginner and the experienced Tarot card reader will find her charts and spreads interesting and knowledgeable.
We will soon be updating the Sabbat Calendar and Full Moon dates for 2006. A Blessed Samhain to all from the folks at Deerglade.
